One of the districts we work with is evaluating curriculum software to determine what would be a valuable addition to their new elementary lab. Can anyone recommend any resources for evaluating and comparing software options? Is there anything like a What Works Clearinghouse for software?

I'm still working on this question... what I've learned since I originally posted this is that the What Works Clearinghouse DOES include curriculum software, but, there is very limited information. Most of what I could find on WWC just said that the studies that had been done weren't valid or statistically significant. The guide Mike posted from NCREL is helpful for guidelines for what to look for when evaluating software. What I'd really like to find at this point though are other resources, besides WWC, that have concrete, objective research on the effectiveness of various programs. I'll post again if/when I find anything!
