Yes, I am signed up for the Co-teaching workshops next week. I am looking forward to it and using a Smartboard. I felt a little "Tech Challenged" this year because I no longer taught tech classes, but I am looking forward to new ideas and new forms of technology to integrate this year.

This is my first year to only teach math. Before now, I was always self contained. This has made coming up with ideas a bit challenging.

Some things I have done so far are the use of podcasting and a wiki. I have had students podcast on how to do particular math skills like finding the range median and mode of data. I have a podcasting station in my room. It is a USB preamp connected to a typical microphone. We have Macs, so I use GarageBand to record and edit. I then converted to MP3 and uploaded to my class site. Being a novice/professional web designer, I have my own site to upload to and I don't have to worry about the school servers. The wiki I use is a free site. I could set one up myself, but that would require extra time that I don't have. I am using the wiki much like a blog site. The students all have accounts (82 students) and I post questions. They answer the questions by commenting. I didn't think I would have so many getting on the site. Many of my students do not have internet access at home.

I have done iMovie videos with my kids in the past. I am trying to figure out a way to incorporate this into math. The kids love to do this stuff. They are good at it. It just takes patience and some prayers that the lab doesn't go down in the middle of working on a major project.

Abby, unfortunately, I will not be participating in the PLP. The PLP falls under Cary Harrod. You can connect with her at the PLP and she joined this site also. I am fortunate in that I get to work with Cary on a few projects during the year. She leads the TABLET project for our district and wears many hats. She is a great resource.

Hi Abby! Three of the new software packages we are using this school year are United Streaming, Teachingbooks.net and Tumblebooks. We also use Accelerated Reader, SuccessMaker and Reading 180...we are also using Moodle and Gaggle (heavier at the 7th and 8th grade) I am still trying to learn all the applications...I came from corporate IT and training along with hardware and software and tech integration for another district. I have also presented sessions on Outlook, Excel, File Management, Moodle and Gaggle.

I had the opportunity to conduct our first Tech intro training to new elementary teachers in our district.

Enough about me...what educational software do you use?
